The purpose of a group wellness coaching session is twofold: it allows the opportunity to participate in a coaching format that is extremely affordable. Group wellness coaching sessions are also a rich opportunity to learn in a group dynamic, which can be a great way to learn, change, and heal. Learn new skills and change your health habits!

I thought I wrote these thoughts yesterday on Connektwell, but they have disappeared, so I think I did not fully understand that I have to say "yes" to the question "Do you want to schedule this entry?"

Anyway, I have been focusing these last few days on all good things. I realize that I have many blessings, whether I can see them or not. If I can't see them, then if I maintain awareness, perhaps I can feel them. Just walking with the wind in my hair is a blessing. Or looking across the valley at the blue-toned peaks is a blessing.

Everyday I am grateful for my family and friends. The warmness that I feel for the people I love is balm on my soul. I am one blessed woman.

May you all, on our Connektwell community, feel the blessings that surround you and rejoice in them.

Almost half of us don't detoxify properly which can lead to chronic conditions such as CFS, autoimmune conditions, autism, asthma, diabetes, Parkinson's, liver conditions, Alzheimer's, cancer, kidney pain, etc.*

Glutathione is the master detoxifier. It is a major component of your immune system, key in controlling inflammation, and one of the major preventers of aging. If you are not as vital as you'd like to be, you may be low in glutathione.

Many of us do not produce enough of it, especially people with chronic conditions who may be impaired in genes involved in glutathione metabolism. How do you know if you are low in it? Get a genetic test.

Without glutathione, or without enough of it, your body cannot rid itself of environmental toxins, processed foods, etc. There are now close to 100,000 synthetic chemicals in our world, with only a fraction of them having been tested (about 7%). For vulnerable populations, the inability to detoxify properly leads to a breakdown and state in the body called oxidative stress. This state is where chronic illness begins.

How can you protect yourself? Eat more raw foods and more superfoods like wheat grass and spirulina. They naturally contain high levels of glutathione. Eat more peanut butter and sweet potatoes. Take a milk thistle formula. Exercise naturally increases glutathione levels and detoxifies your liver.

The time is now to start down a new path toward health...

I recently lost my cat. She was the love of my life. She has green eyes, grey fur in more shades than you can imagine, a white belly, and the most beautiful soul I've ever known. When I first met her, it was winter time, and she used to scramble up my stairs to eat the food I had put out for her, and then scramble back down the stairs again. She would sit on the fence across from me and silently meow at me. She was adorable and funny from the beginning. She was and will always be my dream cat, my soul match.
Later, she worked up the courage to come inside, tail shaking and all, and walked over to me and rubbed up against my leg. I fell in love immediately with her warmth and grace and sweet, wild spirit. Another time I had been out of town for almost two weeks, and when I returned, she ran across the room and leaped into my arms. She was allergic to fleas and had the cutest sneeze ever. She loved catnip, two of her toy mouses, and lots of hugs.

It has been three weeks now and I don't know if she's alive or not. Some neighbors mentioned coyotes. I just moved into my neighborhood. If I had know they were here, I would have never moved. Nothing is more precious than life or your relationships with other sentient beings. In trying to make sense out of it or make peace with it, I ran across another blog on here I wrote a few years ago: "Gifts from the Sea." I talk about how if you truly appreciate and enjoy the moments you have, then it doesn't matter how long they last:

"...(s)he who kisses the joy as it flies lives in Eternity's sunrise."

Blake's quote finds me again, and with it peace. My cat was my best friend. I cannot even put into words how close our bond was and how beautiful her body and spirit were to me. She was my angel. She had a beautiful, wild, wise, silly spirit, and loved to be outdoors exploring or enjoying the sun. One time she fell asleep on the top of the porch and fell off of it.

Another time, she shimmied down the tree near the porch, and sprained her leg. She came back around to my front door, crying to be let in. She is on another journey now. Whether that's here or somewhere else, I don't know. I had four blissful years with her, and I savored every moment of them. We shared deep soul gazing, mouse chasing, and dream surfing. The feel of her falling asleep in my arms with her soft fur bringing me untold peace, is with me forever. Even for only a few moments of divine grace, the memory will last me a lifetime. Shaida, you are in my heart forever...

Recently I was invited to join a group of singers who sing together regularly. They needed another second alto for an upcoming concert. I agreed to participate, but only for this one concert. I did not want to commit to any future involvement due to other responsibilities I already had on my plate. For several weeks, we rehearsed every Tuesday evening and Sunday afternoon. The final week before the concert, rehearsals were scheduled for two evenings and one afternoon. What I soon found was that I looked forward to every rehearsal. The music grew on me like wool grows on a lamb.

The pieces selected by the conductor were Requiem by John Rutter, Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Breitten, and Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams. I knew nothing about any of these composers, nor had I ever heard the music before. I learned that Rutter completed his Requiem in 1985. It has the most gorgeous Kyrie Eleison section that still haunts me many days after our performance. A soprano soloist from our local Opera Company sang the Pie Jesu, with a quiet choral commentary accompanying her. The whole work is burned into my brain and I find that just humming sections of it causes my shoulders to go down and my breathing to slow. I quote from John Bawden's notes: "Though it necessarily has its dark moments, Rutter's Requiem is unmistakably optimistic in its message of hope and comfort, expressed through the beauty of the chosen texts and Rutter's uplifting music. It is not entirely surprising that after the tragic events of 9/11 it was this setting of the Requiem that was the preferred choice of music at the many memorial services which followed across the USA."

Our second selection was Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten. I was prepared not to like this difficult piece, but I grew to love it. The words are crazy. They are taken from a lengthy poem by Christopher Smart, who happened to be in an asylum at the time he wrote the poem. Here's what I learned. Each creation on earth, in its own way, has the ability to appreciate blessings and beauty, and to be a blessing, and to be beautiful. Smart talks about his cat, Jeoffry, who winds his body seven times around with elegant quickness, worshipping God and there is nothing sweeter than Joeffry's peace when at rest. Then Smart goes on to the mouse, the flowers, and the many instruments. Once I got the hang of this piece, I loved it. Plus it caused me to think deeply about all creation and to rest in the knowledge that I am blessed and I can bless others in turn in many ways.

The Five Mystical Songs were written between 1906 and 1911. The work sets to music four poems by George Herbert, from his 1633 collection The Temple: Sacred Poems. Herbert was a Welsh born English poet and Anglican priest. I didn't get as much out of these pieces as the first two works, but they were still beautiful. However, as our conductor, Russell McKinney, wrote "The final song "Antiphon" is a triumphant hymn of priase, repeating as its antiphon "Let all the world in every corner sing, My God and King." It was a moving climax to the entire concert.

We had forty choir persons, five soloists from our local Opera Company, and seven instrumentalists including persons playing flute, oboe, cello, harp, glockenspiel, timpani, and organ. Wow! Approximately 150 people turned out for the concert.

I am deeply grateful that my neighbor knocked on my door that night and invited me to "fill in" as a second alto. Yes, it was worth the time to practice. I gained so much peace of mine and shere enjoyment of the music from the experience. I also find myself filled with hope for the future. As a little side-bar, memorizing all of those words, especially the really fast sections in Britten about Nimrod, et al, improved my memory, I'm sure!
